for everyone
i got to talk to an old friend today. she told me something that got my attention ^_^

"Hey Hann! i Googled your name and i found out that alot of people are using/hosting/embedding your stuff (songs)"

sure enough i tried to google it myself. i'm just thankful they still maintained "ioHann Garcia" attatched with those songs, better than "Unknown Artist" ^_^ some people hosting it in Imeen, Soundclick, various personal pages, blog sites, Friendster and Multiply sites.
very flattering really ^_^
and my old broadcaster orgmates in LBFM (the Jocks) tell me that they play my songs on air in LB. thats great.
in my Soundclick alone, the stats hit 5 didgits already and i dont even know who gets hold of my songs. thats when this friend asked..

"Where is your music getting you, Hann?"

i always tell people, and post in song write ups -- "Music for Music's sake"
real artists / musicians do it not for money or fame, but for mere appreciation of it. how their masterpieces affect / change / inspire those who see or listen to it.

"but to be practical, Hann, havn't you submitted your music to anyone (important)?"

this is the sad reality of the Philippine Music industry. i guess the music industry anywhere, but it just happens to be worse in this country because of reasons even Plato could give.  my past works i gave to all the possible radio stations i could, but thats along with the hundreds of aspiring bands/ artists who do just that. and these radio people wouldnt even touch the heaps and piles of dropped-off CDs unless someone from the inside makes them so. same with recording companies, sponsors, etc etc. im just one of the crowd. to make it worse, my genre isn't exactly Noontime-show-theme-song type, so we cant expect it to catch economic attention just like that.  in my song "Live By" in my Deviant Symphony album i talked about that. the sad reality of being a musician / artist in this country who wouldn't "sell out" -- or lower their standards and artistic quality just to sell.

So where is my Music getting me now?

Nowhere.

my only pride and joy are in those links of people, pages, blogs, and sites that pop out in search engines, they that share and host my music not because they know me or they're my friends, but just because of the words and music i work hard for.

I'm just one of those dreamers. there are so many aspiring / dreaming musicians in this country. really good ones. not everyone gets a chance. in fact most of them don't.

but those who truly understand Music flowing through their veins, breathing it everyday, having it as an essential factor of life, they would know that a single string of melody and a few lines of words in tune that changes one who listens... is enough.

Music for Music's sake.
A lot of people start at that and then they get greedy. I hope you remember that when you're famous. :)
In a sense, you already are anyway. Who needs radio stations' approval anyway? Soon as stuff get commercial, they start sucking too. Okay na yan. You're a legend everywhere else anyway.. :)

That's true. I think that's why the phrase "dreaming musician" never loses its "truth," its "umph." Forever dreaming. I think even world-renowned artists are still dreaming. Music is so vast and perpetually stretching kasi. One song or one composition just doesn't completely satisfy, or does it? Hmmm.... ewan!

Anyway, it's good to know that people ARE listening to you - and that they are making an effort to do so. Woohoo! Thank God for the Internet and speedy connections. :D
