dig this. i got an email from YOUTUBE that the CHET BAKER FOUNDATION requested that my "My Funny Valentine" Emo rendition to be put down coz of
copyright infringement. even if the write ups and the video itself had the attribution to Chet Baker, and its clearly non-profit, just like the millions of "here's my take on (insert song title here)" posts in youtube. but still YouTube's legal rules states that even people singing "cover" songs and the likes, or even using part of it is already illegal. yeah i read the legal shit. in short, ANY kind of cover songs people upload in YouTube is already illegal and enough for them to take it down, along with tv clips, music videos, movie clips, commercials... holy shit in short, maybe 80% of the whole YouTube ^_^ even
Marie Digby (famous for the "Umbrella" cover)
or
Josiah Lemming's cover songs that made them famous in youtube to begin with, or even clips of
Charice Pempengco viewed by millions. of course YouTube is obviously understaffed for such an insane job of screening the millions of videos, so
they rely on a "recommendation" system, or flag system, mostly coming from users. if a user requests a certain post i think is 'illegal' then thats what YouTube will prioritize to ban. in my case, as you can see ^_^ my Emo version of
"My Funny Valentine" pissed off the Chet Baker Foundation! wow, my remake became that famous to even reach them! oh and to begin with, Chet Baker didnt even compose that song, coz it was originally from the
1937 Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart musical Babes in Arms. Chet Baker just sung it along with hundreds of other artists, but hey i wont attest to the Chet Baker Foundation ^_^ they were just obviously pissed at my version to begin with, coz nobody else in the world or in history has probably ever attempted an EMO version of that standard jazz tune. and to prove it, go search "My Funny Valentine" in youtube and see the dozens of amateur musicians doing their "cover" of that song -- nobody ever even got close to my arrangement coz they were all just copying the original, and the mere fact that their videos are still there.. the Chet Baker Foundation didnt flag them ^_^ like my version of turning it into ROCK was a great blasphemy to the great Chet Baker. don't get me wrong, I love Chet Baker!
Now lets see if the GooGoo Dolls Foundation, Bonnie Tyler Foundation, Bonethugs~n~Harmony Foundation, Tears for Fears Foundation, U2 Foindation, and the rest of the other Musical-Artist-Foundations go flag YouTube of their respective songs that i remade, and get me banned once and for all ^_^
Here's my Emo version of "My Funny Valentine", and i dedicate it to the Chet Baker Foundation ^_^
